Accident

My girls were in a tiny car accident today. My parents picked them up from preschool and were taking them to their home as they do every Thursday. It's raining outside today and some teenager rear-ended them when they were stopped to turn. Everyone is fine but that just messes with a mom's mind. They didn't get very upset and didn't cry at all. NaNa gave them a cookie and I could hear them talking (and fighting) while I was on the phone with her. I opted not to go to them because I figured if I made a big deal about it then they would pick up on that and thus make a big deal about it.

Now we get to deal with the car seat/booster seat/strap/seat belt issue - replace all, none or some parts. I'm pretty insistent on replacing the car seat but the car seat people told me the seat belt holding the booster in would need to be replaced. I hadn't thought of that before.

Trick or treating

Ariel and the Bumble Bee had a blast Trick or Treating, their friends, Princess Leia and the Witch, came over and joined us. Lindsey had a hard time keeping up but she didn't quit. She wouldn't go in the wagon and she wouldn't let any of us carry her. At one point she said she had enough candy now but she kept going to house to house asking if they had a dog. She just wanted to see the dogs.

I'll try to remember to upload a picture tonight. We have another busy weekend and then midweek we head to my niece's wedding.

So behind

I just started this thing and already I can't keep up. It's been a busy few weeks with Bruce gone during the week and me gone for the weekends. A few more days to go and we'll get back to normal.

My mom and I are off to KS for the weekend so we can attend my niece's wedding shower this weekend. I can't believe my niece is old enough to be getting married. It's always a little bit stange that I'm just starting to raise my kids and my older sister has empty nest syndrome with her daughter getting married and the rest off to college. And she's not that much older. She just started early and I started late, ok real late.

Bruce will have the girls for the weekend. He'll do great. I'm so lucky that he doesn't mind (at least he doesn't seem to) giving me a break now and then.

I love angel food cake

I've been working on my life list (I'll save that for another day) and it got me to thinking about angel food cake. I love angel food cake but for the life of me I can't seem to bake one. I even tried one from a box (gasp) and it was just that - gasping. I thought when I got my Kitchen Aid mixer that I'd be able to do it but no such luck. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong but I'll keep trying.

P.S. Girls slept in this am. Almost 8 before I heard a peep. ;)

Opposite Sleep

Why is it that when you need to be somewhere fairly early your kids sleep late and when you have no where to be they wake up early? We had to be at the flu clinic fairly early this am and I had to wake my youngest up. We have no where to be early in the am, I pretty much bet you they will wake early. We'll see...
